「Urushi Now: Contemporary Japanese Lacquer」 at the Victoria and Albert Museum

We are pleased to announce that Urushi Now: Contemporary Japanese Lacquer will open at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London on Thursday, 30 April 2026. The V&A is the United Kingdom’s national museum of art, design and performance, internationally renowned for its wide-ranging collection spanning contemporary art, historical art, and design.

Terumasa Ikeda’s work will be presented as part of this exhibition. According to the V&A, the display highlights the diversity of 21st-century artistic expression through the medium of Japanese urushi (lacquer), a material and technique with a history of more than 7,000 years in Japan.

The exhibition will take place at V&A South Kensington, in Japan, Room 45, The Toshiba Gallery, and admission will be free. For further information, please visit the official website.
